What a big week it’s been in tipping! And running this comp in general, I’ve only just managed to sit down and compile all the results. In the space of a week I had to cancel my Derby Day trip at the last minute, drove 5 hours return to Nowra to see our horse WELCOMETOBARBADOS run, only to have the races abandoned, flew to Adelaide for work and missed the Cup whilst in a meeting (although the stakeholder did tell me to back Air Assault), trying to win this damn comp for the first time, continued to back losers, and finally recouped it all on Stakes Day. Not to mention there was a US Presidential Election and Ladies Day Poll (read on for results!).
We completed two rounds this week. Round 12 was split between Mick Jessop, Douggg (Stug) and Weeksy, who all had $100 on GRINGOTTS in the Big Dance and scored $358. No one had a dime on the Cup winner KNIGHT’S CHOICE, who paid a whopping $268 BSP!! Jessop was still leading the comp at this point.
Then onto Stakes Day (Round 13), where Brock has come from the clouds to take the overall lead by landing $100 on PERICLES ($24.58 BSP) in the Five Diamonds and $50 on MR BRIGHTSIDE ($6.67) in the Champions Mile. Brock finished on $2291.50 for the round, but that was not enough for the win as Ovs pipped him on $2383! Ovs also had $100 on PERICLES (who was his sub – after the scratching of IKNOWASTAR) and $100 on NORTH ENGLAND in the Golden Gift. Ben Searle was in third for the round on $1169.
Ovs big performance ensured he also took home the coveted Cup Week Hero Award and an extra $100 in his pocket. The Top 5 is below:

The overall leaderboard has been flipped over the past week. Brock now leads ‘yours truly’ by over $600, with Searley jumping into third, just in front of Mick Jessop. With three races to tip this week, it’s still anyone’s comp and will be interesting to see the tipping strategies unfold. Top 5 below:

The other big result this week is that Killa has wrapped up the Captain Consistency Award with a round to spare! He leads by 2 points and cannot be beaten. It’s a big result for Killa, who is on debut this season. He will take home an extra $100! Just a note on prize money – I will pay everything out after the conclusion of the final round.
