A day of faves (and an unfound roughie)

Cox Plate Day has come and gone for another year, and provided a huge day of racing. Unfortunately for tipsters, 4 out of 5 favourites saluted in the Group 1s (or PVL pop-ups). In another blow for the usual high standards of this group, no one was able to find CHRYSAOR ($38.07 BSP) in the Callander-Presnell. Therefore it became a case of who tipped the most winners. And that person was ‘the real deal’ Benny Leal who tipped the other four winners and returned $710.40. $100 on IMPERATRIZ ($1.40), $100 on ROMANTIC WARRIOR ($4.30), $100 on TOM KITTEN ($2.74) and $80 on ESPIONA ($4.58). I hope he had a big multi on.

Nato was in second on $528 with three winners and Robbo was in third on $372 (also with three winners).

Now to the big poll results, and I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news to the Sydney crew…..

Austin remains in the overall lead on $6997, after going from 0/5 on the weekend. Full credit to him, he’s sticking to his guns and not simply going to tip the faves for the remaining races. Law remains in second on $3533.75 and Wardy in third on $2772.

The Captain Consistency award has tightened up with four tipsters even on 6 points (6 rounds in the positive): Law, Saff, Austin, Chriso and Wardy.

This Saturday is Derby Day with five races to tip. It also kicks off the Cup Week Hero side-comp – so the rest of losers have a chance to win some coin this year!
